The Story Behind Grave Before Shave

Grave Before Shave (GBS) was born from a search for better beard care. Founder Wayne Bailey, encouraged by his wife Heather, began experimenting after struggling to find a moustache wax that met his standards while sporting a musketeer-style handlebar moustache and goatee. Disappointed with mass-market options—and frustrated by expensive imports—Bailey turned to his grandfather’s original recipe.

Working alongside artist and friend Charlie Halstead, he created Fisticuffs Mustache Wax, which quickly became a hit in the U.S. As Bailey transitioned to a full beard, his passion evolved into a complete grooming philosophy—and Grave Before Shave was born.
