How To Use

Wet the alum block and gently rub it onto the shaved area. Allow it to dry on your face.

If you're using a moisturizer or aftershave balm, splash some water on your face after applying the alum block. Pat your face dry with a towel, then apply your aftershave balm or moisturizer.

History of the Alum Block

The alum block is the original antiseptic aftershave, containing mineral salts that were used by ancient Egyptians over four thousand years ago for their healing and antiseptic properties.

How does an Alum Block work?

The alum block salts help stop bleeding by constricting blood vessels and tightening the skin's pores.

Storing the Alum Block

After use, rinse the alum block with water, dry it thoroughly, and store it in a dry place with good air circulation. If the block remains moist or exposed to humidity, it will dissolve.

Sensitive Skin Sufferers Be Aware

If you have dry or sensitive skin then we do not recommend using alum blocks as the minerals used are astringent which means that they draw moisture out of the skin.

Other Uses For Alum Blocks

Oliy, Greasy, Spotty Skin?

Alum blocks can be used as a natural astringent for oily skin. They are effective in reducing greasiness, spots, and acne.

After showering or washing your face, gently apply the alum block to the affected areas. It will help dry out the skin and blemishes, leading to a clearer appearance. Alternatively, you can apply it to spots and pimples before going to bed.

However, avoid using the alum block on your face every day, as doing so may cause your skin to overcompensate by producing more oil.

Using an Alum Block as an Anti Persperant - a Natural Deodorant

For centuries people in the middle and far east have known that applying an Alum Block to the underarms will give excellent odour and sweat protection, an added benefit is it is 100% natural.

An Alum Block is ideal for those who wish to use a natural antiperspirant. Apply the Alum Block to the underarms for a totally reliable, non antiperspirant. Alum Blocks are non-scented so you can still use your favourite scented deodorant.

Alum Blocks are highly effective in controlling excess sweating.

After Waxing Treatment

Alum Blocks are very effective for calming the skin after waxing, they are suitable for sensitive areas such as the bikini area and the face.

If you are looking for an alternative for travelling, then try our Alum Matchsticks. These handy sized books of matches feature a small amount of alum at the tip of each match stick. Simply tear one off, wet the tip and use as required.

Proraso Shave Cut Healing Gel is an astringent healing gel that can be used to treat nicks or cuts you suffer during shaving. Apply a tiny amount of gel to the nick or cut and it will stop bleeding, the gel will also form a protective covering on the cut to protect it from becoming infected.
