Valle Crucis Collection
Valle Crucis is a small town located between Boone and Banner Elk. It was established in 1842 by NC Episcopalian Bishop Levi Ives, who aimed to set up a mountain mission. The name "Valle Crucis" stems from the Latin term meaning
"vale of the cross," chosen by Bishop Ives after witnessing the intersection of a couple of creeks, likely with the Watauga River. Walking around this town and perhaps lying in the field to relax, I feel as though the bishop might have intended it to be a place for restoration and introspection
or simply a place to find inner peace. I hope this description takes you to a place that fosters those feelings.
